Butler Park Pitch & Putt is a 9-hole, par-3 pitch & putt golf course with real grass greens located in the heart of downtown Austin, TX. Situated on 8 acres amongst towering oak and pecan trees, this dog-friendly destination with a pristine view of the downtown skyline gives off a quaint retro vibe.
Officially opened on June 1, 1950, these 72-year-old links began as a dream for 2 Austin locals, Douglas and Winston Kinser, who wanted to design and build a usable green space for the citizens of Austin.
The refurbished golf course is complimented nicely by a courtyard with open-air seating and yard games, an on-site food truck, TVs streaming major sporting events, and a pro shop offering equipment rentals and merchandise.
WGI played a key role in this project by providing Civil, MEP, and Structural Engineering services, along with permitting and construction administration support for the recent course redevelopment.
In addition to improvements of all existing tee boxes and greens, the redevelopment included significant upgrades to the existing clubhouse building, a new restroom and storage building, and site structures, including a steel trellis at the courtyard area.
The civil engineering scope included designing and permitting new domestic water, sewer, and irrigation services for the site, along with refreshing the buildings' ADA accessibility.
MEP and structural services include furnishing the design of the new building and site structures, renovation of the existing clubhouse, and upgraded power infrastructure for new site lighting.
WGI’s teams coordinated closely with the ownership group, constructors, and the City of Austin throughout design and construction and are proud of the final result: a stylish and modern upgrade to a beloved Austin institution since 1950.
